Topic: I'm new..plan to have my own datingsite..not technical person.

Hi,
I am a non  technical person and not a developer. I've done a few research on the net and saw that the forum in this site is has the most active member. I saw this VLDpersonals software and see a lot of good feedback.my questions are:

1. Can a non technical person like me use this software?
2. What kind of hardware server do i need to install this software?
3. If I need to do simple customisation example adding the field or the title of the field itself, can i do it myself?
4. Is the chatroom included in the package?
5. Is there a step by step documentation on what to do to set up my own dating website?

Hope you could give me a feedback so that i can make an informed decision.Thanks you

1. Yes of course (i'm not a techie but been running vld for 3 years.
2. You need a standard hosting package, such as hostgator, hostmonster etc.
3. Yes, fields can be added, remove, adapted in the control panel
4. Chat is part of the software
5. You can get some advice and help about setting up your site, but you should understand at least how to run a website with a hosting package.

Requirements are listed somewhere on vldP site, but make sure your hosting package meets the minimum requirements, including ioncube. I use hostmonster with vldP and no problems.

Thanks for your replies. I can see the community here is very supportive to one another.I like that.Will seriously consider this VLD software. By the way I noticed about another website called www.Vldcrowd.com.. i try to sign up but they ask for this at the bottom of the sign up form..(Verification) The best dating script ever?..but i have no idea what number to put in in there...anyone can give me any ideas?

it's easy.. it's not a number but a name of dating software.. any idea? Try to guess? vld....!! smile

Hi baby member,

I'm walking in your shoes with the same questions and concerns. I want to make sure I purchase the right package because I don't have money to experiment and I've run across some that sound like they offer everything and at the last minute realize I need to purchase this and that etc. I have yet to make any final moves yet til I'm sure it's the right one.I'm curious what your next move is.I'm looking for a mentor I guess,  someone who's going through what I'm going through and has a testimony or advise.

Look at it this way - if you would like to use our software out of the box and manage it, you do not need to have any programming knowledge. However if you would like to customize it (change colors, pictures, fonts, etc), you may have to know certain things or hire a developer/designer to do them for you.
