I’m still using 2.5.3. I thought vlad was going to give group permissions in 2.5.6 but I guess not. I used an old script (4images) that had one of the best Group and Permission settings I have ever seen. I wish Vlad would upgrade vldP to do the same.

I would like to see where the admin can setup groups and give members permissions to change to a certain group(s) in their settings.

For example:

A new member (call him Bob)  joins and he is automatically put in the Regular members group  to find his long lost love.

The admin creates a group called Found Love and sets the Group permissions where  members can not receive messages from other members in the Regular Group.

Bob finds his love. I have given Regular members permission to change to the Found Love group in their settings if they find love and want to stop receiving messages from Regular members.

Another group I would like to see is an Article Group. With this group, I can give trusted members permissions to write articles for the site. If these members delete their account, the articles are NOT deleted.

The Permission and Group structure needs to be reworked in vldP. The one thing my old script (4images)  had was a way the admin could set all settings by Group permissions. In vldP, some settings are global, they are either on or off while other settings you can set by Group permission. In 4images, I had the ability to set Global settings, but I could override the global settings for a group or individual. They had a very nice hierarchy that went like this:

1 - You could set Global settings s for the site.

2. - You could set Group Permissions that would over ride the global settings.

3 - You could even set Individual permissions that would override both Global and Group permissions. This worked great. If I had an individual in a group who was abusing the system, for example, I could set his individual permission so he could only send out 3 messages a day while the rest of the members in his group could still send out the number of messages based on the Group permission.

I totally agree with this feature request, it's really needed (vlad)

Sometimes we need members to be able to move themselves to a different (but limited choice) member group in the settings page, so they can have greater user flexibility.

For instance,

1. If a member finds a date and want to go hidden for a while, they can assign themselves to a new member group that is invisble to other members in search results, or other settings enabled in cp member groups.

2. If they want to cancel a recurring payment package, they should be able to assign themselves to a trial group which will cancel their recurring payments and move themselves back to trial membership, or other group which can be nominated in cp.

I suggest this vlad - Under cp settings > member groups > edit settings >
Have this option under:
Member profile privileges ....
Member picture privileges ...

-> Member Group priviliges :
Member can change groups in their settings page:     Yes/No
Member groups choice given:    (multiple selection drop down box of member groups they can self allocate)

Please can you consider this vlad?
