Topic: Guest Blog Access

In don't want people that are not logged into my site to be able to view full profiles, so I have disabled the view profile in the CP. But I do want guests to be able to view blogs, which they cannot do with the view profile disabled. I've gone through blog.tpl, member_blog.tpl trying to find where the permissions are checked with the idea of by-passing the permissions so that Joe Public can view the blogs without becoming a member.

Any ideas on how to get around this would be appreciated.

Re: Guest Blog Access

I'm having a hard time following why you would look at the tpl files. Anyways, you set your permissions for each group in your Control Panel (CP)

CP - Settings - Member Groups

Here you can setup your permissions for what groups can and can not see blogs

Re: Guest Blog Access

Yep, in Guest permissions, I have enabled "Can view all blogs". If you are not logged in (ie Guest), and click on Blogs and then click on any of the blogs, you get the "you cannot access this page" error.

In the "Profile access settings, none of the "Can view member groups" are enabled which means non-members cannot view members profiles, which is what I want.

My site is not a dating site, so family and friends may want to read the blogs of my members, without having to be a member themselves.

This may be a bug, because a Guest is able to view pictures & events.
