Topic: Paypal

I recieved today a mail on my very personal emailaccount from "secure@paypal.com" with the subjectline: "You're Billing Information !", and the content:

"Dear PayPal Member!

It has come to our attention that your PayPal Billing Information records are out of date. That requires
you to update the Billing Information.
Failure to update your records will result in account termination. Please update your records within 48 hours.Once you have updated your account records, your PayPal session will not be interrupted and will continue as normal. Failure to update will result in cancellation of service, Terms of Service (TOS)
violations or future billing problems.

You must click the link below and enter your login information on the following page to confirm your
Billing Information records."

I don't have a paypal-account and I have never used my very personal emailaccount in connection with the things I'm working with on the Internet.

Now, Paypal is used here and supposed to be safe, but a mail like this, make me insecure...

Are here someone how have had problems with paypal, or have recived a mail like this...?  I did't used the link, so I don't know what the link was for.....

Best regards
Freja

Re: Paypal

That's a good example of a phishing email. Ignore it or report it to paypal if you prefer big_smile

Re: Paypal

Thank you! smile
When I move the mouse over the link, I see a local "paypal-information"-site... Scary! I'm glad I'm so net-distrustful big_smile  I have never recieved something like this before, but even though I never open mails or link/attachments I don't understand...

Re: Paypal

Look out for others.......I get  scammers acting as if they are from paypal, ebay, amazon and varied banks. It has become so bad that it is hard to trust anyone.

Re: Paypal

I get about 50 every day

Re: Paypal

I 50+ scam emails every day. The best way to deal with them is to delete them unopened. If you open an email and it asks for personal information, delete it and remember the subject line for future reference.

Re: Paypal

Is your email address somewhere on your site in plain html?

Not only do bots index sites there are bots that harvest emails from websites.

One way to combat this, is to replace your email address with a graphic

bots can't harvest a graphic

We can at least make them do a little manual work if they want to spam us..
