Topic: A few pre-sales questions pls.

Hi,

After browsing the features in Demo Admin CP, there are still certain features that I'm not sure whether if it does what I need.

1. Assuming there is a 'FEATURED MEMBER' function in VLS PERSONALS:

(a) Yes/No?

(b) can I manually assign Featured member or is it a system-fixed-selected featured member assignment based on 'Random/Latest/etc'?

(c) can I set max/min number of 'Featured Member' to display on the homepage?

(d) can I set/specify certain profile fields to show alongside each 'Featured Member" displayed on the homepage?

(e) is the layout of the 'Featured Member' display in editable HTML Template or is it a fixed structure/layout?

2. Can I setup specific search fields to display in Quick/ Advance Search?

3. Is it possible to restrict certain level of paid members can only contact or be contacted (IM/Email Messaging) by certain level of paid members?

Example:
Basic Members may only contact Basic Members.
Standard Members may contact both Basic & Standard Members
VIP Members may contact All Members.
(when a low-level member clicks on a high-level member, will be directed to a page prompt notifying that they are required to upgrade their membership in order to contact the requested member)

4. Example, say if I set the permission that Free Members are not allowed to initiate IM/Email Messaging with other member, BUT if a paid member initiate IM/Email Messaging with a free member, only then that particular free member may response by IM/Email Messaging ONLY with that particular paid member whom made the first contact. Is this possible?

(Note: I'm aware that question 4 & 5 contradicts each other, but it has it's purpose )

As for the questions above, if the answer is 'Yes' to each of the features inquired...all the better!

If not, is it possible to build a plug-in (so that it won't cause problem on future version update/upgrade) and have all the features mentioned above? If it's possible, could you pls give me a separate price quote for each feature-plugin so that I could decide if I could afford all or some of the plug-ins based on the pricing of each individual plug-ins?

Yes...AtPetat...I totally agree!!!

Having spent nearly one whole month of Dating Software Hunting!

Having bought a couple of them too!!!

Sigh...if only VLD PERSONALS have a better ranking on Google...then I would have chance upon VLD PERSONALS earlier...that would have saved me lots of $$$

Now that I've found VLD...I simply can't accept the fact that there are so many well-known Dating Software out there which are HUGELY OVER-PRICED (like twice or three times the price of VLD PERSONALS), staff & support with an ARROGANT ATTITUDE, and...some of those software can't do something which IMO is CRUCIALLY IMPORTANT FOR A DATING SOFTWARE as like setting up our own profile and search fields!!!

Honestly, I would have buy VLD PERSONALS as it is even if it can't do what I have inquired as above...as for what it is...IT'S STILL WORTH IT.

Well...enough ranting!

Not be default but can be easily done by slightly adjusting new members extension. We can do it for you if needed.

(b) can I manually assign Featured member or is it a system-fixed-selected featured member assignment based on 'Random/Latest/etc'?

"featured members" could mean different things to different people. For example some people want to make those with the most pictures as featured while other want to choose them manually. As in above, with some slight customization to existing extensions it'll be possible to specify your own featured members.

(c) can I set max/min number of 'Featured Member' to display on the homepage?

You can set the max.

(d) can I set/specify certain profile fields to show alongside each 'Featured Member" displayed on the homepage?

Yes.

(e) is the layout of the 'Featured Member' display in editable HTML Template or is it a fixed structure/layout?

All templates are customizable and your imagination is the limit. Have a look at our showcase for live examples.

Yes. There's no advanced search per say however it's going to be included in the next update.

You can restrict certain member groups from sending private messages all together. You cannot really set them to be able to contact one group but not the other. But it still can be achieved with some slight template customizations if necessary. You can also set members to be able to reply but not send messages.

Yes.

I'm guessing the only feature that may need tweaking to suit your needs is "featured members". If you know exactly how you'd like it to work, submit a support ticket and we'll get back to you with a quote.

I thought I would throw my 2 cents in here.

Probably the biggest reasons most purchase vldPersonals is: (1) price (2) support (3) coding.

The support is tops....there is no other way to put it.

The coding is flexible and easily enough to prove just by browsing the forum or looking at the showcase of sites. There are tons of changes and customization going on here at the forum and the showcase has such a variety of different sites that all derived from the same code it tells me you can get vldPersonals to do what you want.

The price can't be beat for what you get -- great support, flexible coding and a friendly community willing to help.

Thaidatelink, you can take five years more to decide which dating script is more flexible with better support and a better templated system than this one, but you'll still not find any, this one is going places, thanks Vlad and crew.
