Topic: Hello there, I have some questions x)

So umm....let me tell you a little story.

I want to create a dating community within Canada (I know there are many already) and as I'm no programmer I started looking at pre-made software. The first one I checked is Able-Soft and I was like...WOW...all that for like 700$? Seemed too good to be true. I investigated and found out it's a russian scam, so I searched more scripts on Google.

I tried Dolphin but was turned off by the installation process. I mean, I'm no noob when it comes to SQL/website managing, but I found it really hard to get everything installed. So well I searched more, and finally found VLD, though I'll admit I was skeptical about the whole affair getting back from the ABK software thingie.

VLD seems a good choice. Most of software sellers don't have forums - this way they can hide from negative press / reviews thus selling more to unaware clients. VLD does, and upon reading many threads (yes I did), I think Vlad and co. are to be trusted. Or, there's 95% of scammers / bots / and thieves here. I think not. lol

Ok so I have questions before investing in your product.

I) I see no french language, and I need it. I can translate from en > fr, would I get a discount? x)

II) I need the website to offer dual language, is it possible? I mean, a one click link to change the language or a button, even better, auto detection a la Google, but that's not obligatory, as long as I have both available

III) It says you can create unique designs to fit our needs. Problem is, there's no estimate $-wise, and I know design templates, especially unique ones, can be costly. Is it possible to have a price range without submitting a ticket?

IV) If I plan to use VLD and a) have free membership (100% free) and b) run adsense/ads, should I get the commercial liscence? (I guess so)

V) Talking about ads, call me lazy, but is there a rotating ad banners tool or adsense tool?

VI) Free hosting promotion is cool and all, but does that mean you're in control of this part of the deal? What I mean is, will I still have control (FTP/SQL/files) or is it blocked? I guess I have full control, but I want to make sure.

That's a long list eh. I also have a bonus question ;

x) Tell me, in no more than one sentence spanning one line of text maximum, why your product is better than the competition, If you're original, that may sell me even more your product.

:::

Please note that if I do buy your product and love it, other people will know it. I value hi quality work.

Normally yes, but we just got a French language pack and will be putting it online soon.

Yes, it's possible.

It says you can create unique designs to fit our needs. Problem is, there's no estimate $-wise, and I know design templates, especially unique ones, can be costly. Is it possible to have a price range without submitting a ticket?

You'll need to submit a ticket with the description of a template you'd like to have for us to be able to give you the cost. Or you can purchase an already existing template of your choice which can be integrated into the software.

If I plan to use VLD and a) have free membership (100% free) and b) run adsense/ads, should I get the commercial liscence? (I guess so)

As long as income from ads is spent on maintaining the server, personal license is fine. Although you may find banner manager in the commercial version quite handy.

Talking about ads, call me lazy, but is there a rotating ad banners tool or adsense tool?

Yes, commercial version comes with a banner manager.

Free hosting promotion is cool and all, but does that mean you're in control of this part of the deal? What I mean is, will I still have control (FTP/SQL/files) or is it blocked? I guess I have full control, but I want to make sure.

You'll get a regular hosting account with the latest version of cPanel to manage your it.

Tell me, in no more than one sentence spanning one line of text maximum, why your product is better than the competition, If you're original, that may sell me even more your product.

Hmm, I guess because they say so.

Or, there's 95% of scammers / bots / and thieves here. I think not. lol

Okay that made me laugh big_smile

I'm one of the "THEY" wink
Hey Bigmike - I did and I'm 150% happy with the product and support!
GOOD LUCK if you choose to go any other way, YOU'LL NEED IT!

Re: Hello there, I have some questions x)

Another THEY - been using it for more than two years. Its sooo flexible, can do more with vldpersonals than most other software.

Re: Hello there, I have some questions x)

Me too - even though I'm no programmer, and haven't used "Testimonials"...yet. Have tryed Boonex, Osdate and know about ABK... I'll stay here smile

- From the beginning I was intelligent, but since I learn something every day, I'm sure I'll end up wise as well -

Well thanks for your input all. I'm still checking it out, the battle is between this and PHPizabi. Though IZA is free, VLD seems faster and less of a security mess than the other software. I'll let you know soon what my decision will be, but I'm more inclined towards VLD.

Re: Hello there, I have some questions x)

If you hated Boonex, you will loathe PHPizabi - this is well worth the small amount of money

May I ask what your sites are now?

Prior to vldP, I too used quite a few dating sites (spent more money than I want to mention). I got out of the business for a while. When I decided to get back in the game, the whole idea of spending money on another dating script put a bad taste in my mouth. I'm a big fan of hotscripts and that is where I found vldP. It had some great reviews.

Long story short, price is not an indicator of quality. I spent 5 times more on software, that was a mess and the support just stunk.

Today, I'm starting anew and wish I had the marketing dollars I had at one time that I threw away on other scripts to buy 20 vldP. In time I hope to get there, but for now, I could add up the money I spent on all of those other dating scripts and they still would not match vldP's value -- support, quality of script, and ease of use makes vldP not only the best value, but the only script on the market that should be taken seriously for an online dating business.

By the way, my thought on PHPizabi is right on with yours, additionally it is a big time resource hog. Man, that script is full of holes.

Yeah It's not always true that "you get what you pay for"..... (Close your eyes Vlad) Here we pay and get A LOT more than we should

Yea that's my problem with it, I keep reading hacking reports, and I was about to spend a $150 dollars theme for it too hmm. I think I'll take that cash towards VLD for more security and reliability.

Re: Hello there, I have some questions x)

Sorry to bump, but I prefer to keep it all in one fine thread-o.

My problem is I need the french language before buying your software, I'll gladly translate your dictionnary file if you send it to me, I know it was being worked on (or was it?) but It still does not show up on the language page of your website. So, may I help?

The other thing is, is it possible to have a dropdown menu at the top of any template for the language selection? Otherwise, it might scare french users. By giving them the option to change all the website to their language in one dropdown menu choice, it would be fine. Problem is, I didn't see this in any of the templates (free/paid). Also, wouldn't it be a pain to change everything (psd mostly?) to french in order for the changes to take effect? Because it would be weird to have the content in french, with graphic menus in english.

Thanks again, I WILL buy it, I promise!

We already have it! Just need a couple of days to put it all together and then we'll make it available in the downloads area for everyone.

Yes. Either a drop down or some people preferring placing small flag icons instead.

Nice, any input on the theme modifiers? I mean, all the graphics? I guess selecting either french or english would only change the dictionnary used, no?

Thanks for your feedback smile

Yes. But our template engine also allows you to check what language is being used so you could display different content/graphics.
