Re: Help with members age

I personally do not know how to do this. However, in researching online dating law I came across the site onlinedatinglaw.com...there is a banner on there for age verification. I don't know if this is what you are looking for, or an alternative to what you are looking for.

I have been thinking about building a special community website that would be available to all ages, and one of the concerns is that I would like to provide chat...but I am concerned about the liability of providing chat to children with the existence of internet predators.  I too would like to do something similar...limit the capabilities that people under a specified age will have (mostly dis-allowing chat and making profiles private for children under a particular age). It sounds like you are interested in something similar. Problem is, I think you would still need some sort of age verification...or you would simply rely on them telling the truth about their age. Eventhough myspace does not have an age selection under 18, I know that there are people on there that are under 18.

Hope this provides some useful info. If you find a viable solution, please let me know smile

Re: Help with members age

I found this script (http://rainbow.arch.scriptmania.com/scripts/age_redirect.html) that works, but I think it needs some adjustment. If you or someone that is more familiar with code can create something similar that doesn't require name and email address, and make it show up for non-members that aren't logged in...so non-adult content can be seen on the front page, non-members can't view it without entering their age while members (probably best for paid members as most forms of payment belong to those over a certain age...16-18 here in the USA) don't have to see the pop up if they are logged in it would be perfect!

Whoever is capable of making these modifications, if you would share the end script with me/us and tell me/us how you integrated it into the website to protect adult areas that would be great.

Also, it works in IE part of the time (might just be my computer and firewall settings). Sometimes, when I open it up with IE I get "null" for the values and the activex bar up top...cant click on the activex bar...can only click on ok...then I get redirected. However, no problems with Firefox
