Topic: Automated email matchmaking...
That feature would be awesome ![]()
You are not logged in.
It's been talked about quite a lot already. Imagine if you have 1000 members. Someone joins and matches 500 of those members, this means that 500 emails will be sent. Now what if 3 more members join? That's another 1500 emails already. What if you have more members?
What we suggest is send out a newsletter through the control panel to members asking them to visit 'my matches' page to view new matches.
No, that´s not how it should work. All major dating sites here in Sweden offer that service. The system should just match by mail maybee 20 matches of the new arrivals. A mail with 20 matches.
Major dating sites here in Brazil also offer this service. Sure, it is optional and the user can disable this feature. But is a very nice way of keeping in touch with your members. Something like, twice a week, send an e-mail to the members with an average of ten or twelve profiles that match this member's preferences...
+1 for this feature
I've seen and used that on several big sites. Almost all the so-called matches were not relevant, and the emails very quickly become very annoying. I would only use a system that can provide REAL matches.
I think the "matches" are mostly new members based by area, sex and age. It´s not an advanced form of matching, but a good way too keep your members activate on your site. It´s a promotion thing of a good service.
As I mentioned in an earlier post *, this would be a great asset to the software.
Not sure if my new 2.5.2 matchmaker system actually works. When I try it with one of my test accounts it comes up empty ! Do all of the criteria have to be met that are setup in the profile fields or just any of them ? If anyone knows.....

Yes, all the criteria has to be met. I believe this feature will have to be handled carefully. Can you imagine the emails you will get if every time one of your members checks their matches and their are none. I'm going to use it, but I will probably change the name to something other than matchmaker. Still thinking on this.

Yes, my thoughts exactly...

This is a real must and a great addon for vldpersonals you will make more sales when this is added!
Hello Folks,
I am using this software in Turkey, and there is some big company dating sites does this feature. We can select time perifod for example once a week, system sending automated 20 matched profile photos with names to members email.
What it does once a week, you realise there is new members in system, and you may want to login and see your mathes... ![]()
Please vlad add this also...
I am really getting very happy, that I choose this software. Developing such a good features...
I have actually been a member myself of dating sites and I know that a weekly email is very motivating. I have seen two types or weekly emails each containing not more than 9-12 profiles/pics:
email type 1: - last people to visit member's profile and then followed by new members who have joined.
Email type 2: - new members who have joined (they say 'match' in each box but are only matched for age range and location to keep things simple)
Any ideas on customising something like this to happen automatically would be a great step fwd!! ![]()
Please let's add this feature for the next version. It looks like we will all can use it. Thanks for all your hard work.
I have subscribed with major dating sites to see how their system work. It is actually very well. So it only send me new matches up to 10 matches. it not every day. So it think it would be nice to have this option for dating sites

To not stress the server and to not annoy members with unwanted emails the system could be designed this way:
1) set the feature deactivated by default. Members have to enable it if they are interested in it.
2) matchmaking emails sent only every 7/14/21/28 days (the members will choose between these 4 options)
3) matchmaking emails sent only if in previous 7/14/21/28 days there have been at least XX new subscribers that match members search criteria (e.g. if there are at least 5 new subscriptions)
4) limit the number of new profiles to list into the email (e.g. max 8 new members)
5) admin can enable this feature just for higher membership levels (e.g. gold members)
These are just suggestions.
I understand the vlad point of view and agree that this feature could cause server issues.
Anyway, we can try to suggest some ways to avoid these problems.
Remember we already have lot of possibilities to send emails to membrs and make the site more active (newsletters, birthday wishes).
The most important thing I want to say is that sending unwanted emails makes the members unsubscribe. I experienced this and learned to not do it anymore. I send a newsletter just every month (min. two weeks when necessary).

Every day in the morning, I get this e-mail:
this is my competitor

.
Vlad set the feature deactivated by default,
Admin to enable or disable it in CP
Put the ability for the members to enable or disable it in the Profile Settings.
