Topic: How to change your vldPersonal SiteTemplate

You and your site members can change the “Look and Feel” of your vldPersonals site from any of 10 different templates with a single click of the mouse.
Just follow the simple steps below.

Step 1
Download the new template you want from the Downloads area.
Unzip the Template .
Upload  the new template folder to your site 'templates' folder.
Set the file permissions for your newly uploaded template.
***Special Note***
You must set the following directory to 777:
templates/your_new_template/tmp/

Step 2
Activate your new Template.
In the control panel:
Settings----»Templates
Select the “un-installed” icon to install your new template.

Step 3
Set your site default template
in the control panel:
Settings---» Select group---» Look and Feel
System template ---- » Select your default siteTemplate
Override members template [No]
[submit]

Step 4
Now that you've installed the template, set your site default Template and allowed your members to change their template.
How do you and your members change the site template?

To change the template(s):
Log in----» click [Settings]---» select the desired template from the drop-down menu
[submit]

Now your members can change their template with just one mouse click.

***Special Note***
If you have custom code on your first template, ensure you place the custom code on the other templates you're using.

Re: How to change your vldPersonal SiteTemplate

You can set it so that all members only see that template, or let them choose between templates.
If you want them only to use Webby2, set it as default template like this:
Step 3
Set your site default template
in the control panel:
Settings---» Select group---» Look and Feel
System template ---- » Select your default siteTemplate
Override members template [Yes] ('yes' - use only webby2, 'no' - member can choose a template)
[submit]

Re: How to change your vldPersonal SiteTemplate

what??? millions of separate files. How did you unzip? What maximum are you talking about? The max you can upload? If your host limited your upload size, you will have to ask your host to increase it. But 510kb is small so I can't imagine your host limiting your upload size so small.

Re: How to change your vldPersonal SiteTemplate

my host is vld personals so that is a worry. How do you upload the template in unzipped fashion. Do you click on each of the 50 sub files? The upload limit is on the cp panel in the files directory when you press'upload' - it says that each upload mus not be more than 410kb.

Re: How to change your vldPersonal SiteTemplate

Upload entire ZIP file to your site and then unzip (uncompress) it through the file manager in hosting control panel.

Template Compile Error: Could not write compiled file.

can you advise?

I hope you unzip the temlates file before you transfer it to your webhosting.
Very strange you get this Compile Error ...

Re: How to change your vldPersonal SiteTemplate

did you check your permissions

16

Re: How to change your vldPersonal SiteTemplate

yes permissions say 777 which is so that it can be written\
the permissions are different for webby 2 though which is strange

any other ideas?

Re: How to change your vldPersonal SiteTemplate

i did not unzip before transfer as vlad's entry said I did not have to as long as i extracted when on the public area of the cp.

if you unzip you cant upload it as there is too much information for the upload limit that vld hostings set and also there are 30 separate files/subfiles to upload seperately so a but difficult.

Re: How to change your vldPersonal SiteTemplate

I think you are getting things mixed up..look inside your template folder. Inside your template folder is another folder called tmp ... make sure that is 777.
