This is GREAT seeme101.

Why doesn't VLD include these in updates already>? I'm happy enough with vld's support so far but I'm surprised they are selling this software with such basic flaws everywhere.

One of the most powerful features of vldPersonals is not only is it a complete, fully functioning, ready to use, turn key, dating website solution. You can also customize vldPersonls for any other need you may have when you want to network and share information and ideas with other people.

Yes, right in the meta tag it reads:

<meta name="description" content="The most trusted, powerful and fully automated online dating software. Packed with advanced features, extremely flexible and easy to customize.." />

What the meta tags do not say is vldPersonals is currently being used by clients for a multitude of websites OTHER than dating to include but NOT limited to :

Business contacts
Home buying
A room for the night
Band members
Roommates
Bed and breakfast
Porn
Tattoos
Tourist
Dog (K-9) breeding
Buy and Sell services
Find contractors
Display artwork
Car clubs
Webmasters

The list goes on and on.

George Carlin once said “if there's a subject with more then 4 people interested in, there's a magazine devoted to it”

vldPersonals allows you to build and customize your site for any reason you want.

I listed 40 modifications to help you customize your site as needed and as you see fit.

no, not at all. Quite the opposite in fact.

to use an analogy:
You buy a house.  The house has doors, windows, a roof,  foundation, a backyard everything you need to live in it right. After you move in, what's the first thing you do? Go to a home improvement store and pick out curtains or hire a contractor to paint the living room, maybe carpet the floors.
You make your new house your new home.

The reason for posting 10 Mods. to Make Your Site Even Better is to help you make your Vldpersonals program yours and to help make updating easier.
As in which mods were added, where to find them and how it was done.

Before I created my own personal change log, I added many new features to my site then forgot which files I changed.

They are certainly not flaws.. Some want all of these mods, others want just some, or none. Makes it very flexible.

I agree, this is fantastic. I think this post and the other parts should be required reading for newbies smile Just kidding, but if a newbie doesn't take the time to look through these links, they are missing out, but then again, that may be true for us all.

Re: 10 Mods. to Make Your Site Even Better - Part I

Hi seeme101,

Thanks for the info and I know you haven't taken my critic too hard. When I was referring to basic flaws, I was talking about bugs like,

1. Chat window not appearing to request receiver if they are on 4 out of 5 pages of their logged in site
2. Chat window doesn't tell 1 user another has left, so they are left talking to themselves without knowing
3. Error messages displayed to regular members about features not available to them instead of those features being blocked from view altogether
There are a few other minor teething problems I'm having, but generally I'm getting there, with help. It has been a real learning curve for me, I'm not a programmer but I know that systems always require tweaking.

Whatever the case, I still believe you are very helpful. I will be spending a lot more yet on customisations before I'm ready to go live.
