Topic: stop spam

Tired of spammers send their email addresses on your site, the solution is simple "bad word".

go to cp - settings - members - messaging - filtereds words - @yahoo.com

example : filterereds words - @yahoo.com = ****
example : filterereds words - yahoo.com = ****
example : filterereds words - @ = ****

so then a member write:
hi I am ... and my name is ... and my mail is myname@yahoo.com
it will be like this:
hi I am ... and my name is ... and my mail is myname****

fill the list with all words and mail adresses you not will show then members send messages.
I try it now in few weeks and my spammer get away smile I understand them smile

vldpersonal have so many funktions to get it to the best datingscript ever ... thumb up ...

and my view is, why send each other mail addresses when they are on our sites
it might be nice to them will email each other inside our site instead smile

mmmmmm it makes sense but in case two members want to ecxhange email they can't  but they can exchange phone number smile

it´s easy smile insert 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 in the list so members not can show phonenumber.
and of course you can change **** to * so it not be so many * smile

example : filterereds words - 1 = *
example : filterereds words - 9 = *

it will be like this:
my mail is myname**** and my phonenumber is 0********

is there any easy way in PHP to censor anything that looks like an email address in a profile field textbox?

perhaps change it to #####@####.###.## etc.

I'm using and it works fine for me. So far is the only thing that can stop love spamers.

I think it would be great to be possible to remove it from description, because if you let unregistred users browse your site, and profiles have email in description why would you join?

Close attention by the webmaster is what stops spammers. Through various means I've managed a 99% success rate with keeping spammers out, and the odd one that slips through is usually gone within a few hours.

Very true. You really have to manage your site even though there are features in the software that allows for automation and non admin intervention.

It would be nice to restrict members from sharing email/phone numbers until both have exchanged a specified amount of messages with each other. This would prevent people from spamming right away which might be enough and realistically, if a couple want to share contact details, they won't until they exchanged a few messages already.

almost everything can be fixed with php ...
but find a cheap and good php coder to do it wink
it is not so easy ...
(I know that some other dating scripts had find solution for this.)
but not sure how they did it ...
