Topic: How to Customize/ Modify your vldPersonals Website

vldPersonals is a very powerful and highly customizable program.
One way to get started using your new program is to sit down and spend time with your new program.

You don't need to know any programming languages, html or css to run and manage your vldPersoanls based website.

You don't need to be a programmer to customize and change your vldPersonals based website.
You should however, be familiar with HTML and CSS if you'd like to customize your  website.

Your only requirement is the ability to read, understand and follow detailed instructions

Start with a review, and examination of the many features and functions in the Control Panel.
Then, create a member account (non-admin) to test and review how your members will see and experience your website.

Read the documentation.

Then, perhaps, read some of the forum posts.

Your goal should be to become familiar with your new program and what you can do with it.

Unlike static websites, vldPersonals is a PHP based dynamic content Server-side scripting website.
Which means all pages are created “on the fly” as needed and sent to the end user's browser.

In other words
All content is stored in the database, then called from the server, which is then displayed on the website user's browser. To oversimplify things.

You may edit any and all files with any text editor such as notepad or any other HTML editor.

1 - You may use a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or file manager program to modify and / or upload files to your website (server).

or

2 - You may use a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) program or File Manager Program to download your live site files, make changes to your files then upload the changed files with a FTP or File Manager Program to your website (server).

Or

3 - Create a second copy of your website (a development website) on your server, make changes to the files of your second site (development website) then if the changes are the way you want them, transfer those changes to your live site.

Or

4 - Directly modify the files on your live website (server)  with a FTP or file manager program to modify and / or upload the files on your website (server).

Note:
You should be familiar with  HTML before changing code in the program.

***This part is really Important***
As a rule.
Always, always, always, download and save a good (current up-to-date) working copy of your live site on your local drive. This way you always have a good working copy to revert to if something goes wrong with any mods and/ or changes you make.

Your cp should be accessible something like this:
http://www.yourwebsite.com/admin

Of course, you need to put your real website address, and known your log in details for admin. If you can't access, then submit a support ticket to Vlad, but you should have an email with the log in details.
