Topic: Rate my site

Hi guys!

I'm pushing to get my site into beta and was hoping to get some feedback before then. I have implemented a lot of custom features for the site, such as a wysiwyg blog editor, status and mood updates, forums, cometchat, and others.

If you could please take some time to check out the site I would really appreciate it. The site is free and does not require an e-mail address to sign up.

If you have a site I will also take time to check yours out and provide feedback. You can post feedback in our forums if you would like.

It is a social networking and dating site for vegetarians, built using vldpersonals. It is not strictly for veggies, just anyone that is interested in learning more about it and meeting like minded people

I think the niche is a terrific idea.
- I dont like the child on the homepage, thats a little creepy to me. I would put some healthy attractive women.
- I dont like the logo with the carrots. I know its cute but it looks more like a nutritional poster than a dating site
- A lot of the text on your site is about how healthy it is to eat vegetables. I think it should be about vegetarians meeting other vegetarians. Not about diet and health. Since its a dating site you want to sell love, not a diet plan.
I get confused on what kind of site this is from the text.

Overall nice site and great job picking a nice big niche. It Just needs some tweaking to focus more on love imo

Thanks for the feedback! I'm thinking of mixing the site to be a social networking/dating site hybrid. I definitely understand what you mean about the text confusing things. Do you think it's possible to successfully blend a dating site with social networking features? Or should I just focus on the dating aspect for this site, and maybe do a social networking site elsewhere?

Very narrow target market - hopefully this works for you, not against you.

As far as the site goes, what does it have that the others don't (not considering template)?

I integrated a few 3rd party resources such as CometChat a while back.

I have a user-friendly WYSIWYG blog editor that I'm pretty proud of, as well as forums, a redesigned navigation scheme, the ability to post and view status updates, select your current mood, and plenty of backend mods that I scripted in PHP.

I'm hoping to launch the site officially pretty soon. I still have a few layout items that need to be added, then the site will enter a focus group, final changes, then launch.

Once we launch we will kick in to marketing mode and grow the user base / evolve the site from there.

Any tips on upping page rank or SEO/SEM would be appreciated for when we start the marketing process. Feedback on the navigation would be helpful as well. I spent a lot of time on it tweaking various aspects.

I didn't get as far as navigation. Nicely done site, but IMO it lacks some colour.
