Topic: Web Hosting Question

ok so im about to set up my second vldpersonals site but this time im targeting Australia with a .com.au
I already have a dedicated server but its from hostgator/theplanent and this is in Houston USA.
So for my Australian site im thinking I would have to host it locally, may be better for seo, speed and other reasons??

I also want to have webcam chat on my site so im thinking I will need large hosting?

How much hosting do you think I need for a dating site? should I just go for a cheap plan then upgrade if I need to later or should I get the larger plan from the get go?

Also what is a good affordable webcam add on for VDLpersonals

Re: Web Hosting Question

I'm not sure you need to host locally. In my experience the US usually has the most cost effective hosting and with speeds as they are there is little or no difference. I can't see why it would make any difference to SEO either. I use a VPS in the US but am based in Asia and get good local rankings..

Re: Web Hosting Question

I guess its just what I read on the internet. There is just soo much info out there and its hard to make the right choice.
I pay $174US for my dedicated server now and because I am selling most of my other sites there will be heaps of room there.

Would love to hear what Aussie dating sites would say about this aswell.

Dragon..who is your host?

As far as hosting, I agree with dragon, it should not matter much however, I have done quite a bit of research on domain names. I thought about getting a domain from the Philippines hoping my site would rank better there. But where my host is, should not be a factor.

Wow, paying $174 a month? Who is your host?

Re: Web Hosting Question

ok. I use Hostgator. I have a dedicated server cause I had a bunch of game sites. Im down to 1 large game site and 2 small ones..I just added traffic trading to my big games site (ug2) so I prob need to keep the server.

I guess it wont hurt to try it out and just host the sites on my server.

I got the .com.au and the .com of the domain name..Im thinking only using the .com.au and redirectiong the .com

for some reason I got the .info as well lol. must of done that by mistake.

Re: Web Hosting Question

DB - I'm hosted at servint.net. Could not get better service anywhere, including almost instant support responses from guys who seem to go out of their way to help.
