Hello Kirk,
Long gone are the days when people could try and use text the same color as the background and blast the keywords in there, or have rambling blocks of gibberish full of keywords or site description, although some email spammers still do it.
The advantage of the mod is that the keywords are retrieved randomly, so no two page loads are the same, and all those empty tags get used.
I originally did this purely for my own benefit, after seeing all those empty tags.
I was quite gob-smacked, and honestly, when I first did the mod., I was going to keep it for myself.
I have some links on the mod page to references about the question of using alt tags.
Please, have a read, and make your own decision, one way or the other.
As long as your decision is one you make on your own, that's the best you can do, and who knows, you may choose to do something half-way between nothing and the mod. and do something entirely different.
If it helps your site, it can only be good, with or without the mod.
Some sites make no attempt to do anything about alt tags, whilst others use similar methods, but load keywords into text around a user's profile name. I can think of one good example, where it's done quite well and with thought, but do not want to name it publicly, simply because it's not my responsibility to do so, however if you contact me via my site, we can discuss it more, without the sales pitch.
I just loaded google, typed in "strangers for sex", and found myself at #2.
Mindful however, there is also a movie with that exact same title (thank you to whoever made the movie)
I am toying with the idea of making the source of the keywords not just the META tag, but a separate table, where it would be possible to use other words and phrases, to try and piggyback on some of the major sites.
Do any existing users of the mod. have an opinion on this approach? (or anyone else really)
