Topic: Search profiles based on "Last Logged in" Date + weight & height

I've noticed that one good dating site (namely Meetic) allows users to search for members...
... logged in during the last 24 hours
... logged in during the last 7 days
... logged in during the last month
... logged in during the last 3 months

OSdate also has this function. Since DS users appreciate relevant FRESH profiles (and hate old ones of users who haven't logged in for a long time) I suppose that this tool would be nice to discriminate.

This is a function i like when I use a dating site personally (yes I do use them a lot!)

I also like to filter girls based on height and weight... and I was wondering if as a webmaster we can add many appearance details (10+) without destroying the design of the profile (weird extra space or boxes)? The space seems tiny.

The demo version of vld doesn't include any weight or height.

I'm surprised.

(This is my very first post, and i don't own the VLD licence yet. I'll just add that I'm quite impressed by the quality and the amazing functions and the elegance of that (master)piece of software!)

Re: Search profiles based on "Last Logged in" Date + weight & height

You can easily add height and weight to search through the cp.
Don't compare Vldpersonals, a quailty paid software, to Osdate which is a buggy free software. When you buy Vldpersonals you get great value for money, a very flexible system that is very customizable, plus great support. As for searching by last logged in, I'm sure its possible but I'll leave that to someone with more knowledge than I have.

Re: Search profiles based on "Last Logged in" Date + weight & height

Glad to know that height and weight can be added easily.

I do understand that VLD is superior in many ways (more functions, more stable) to OSdate. That's why I intend to move to VLD. I have to compare VLD to what I know though (meetic, POF, OSdate). It doesn't mean that I think that VLD has the same level of quality/mediocrity as those.

After checking again, I was wrong about one thing though. OSdate doesn't not allow to search by "last lagged in". Instead it simply displays the date or period when the user last logged in, next to the username. It is not a searchable criterion.

But Meetic does (it's one of the best dating sites in the world. I suppose that they have tested a lot of functions to perfect their website). So as a Meetic user, I can filter profiles to see only those of users who have logged in within the last 24 hours or last 7 days. There is also a way to classify profiles by recency.

I think that this is a most important function that deserves to be included by default in VLD.

Another interesting feature of Meetic is the list browing system. After a search, you get a list of say 200 results. This list browsing system allows you to click on the "next profile". So you you can check out a lot of profiles one by one (and even come back). And you keep navigating through the results you have got. You don't have to search each time. You can also browse this way through search results presented as a gallery, from one to the next and back.

From active users' point of view this is a great experience. From passive users point of view (those whose profile is viewed) it's also stimulating. And from the webmaster's point of view, this is also good as it stimulates activity on the web site. More profiles are viewed. The site seems and is actually more alive. The only downside is that more data is generated and the server is used more... Also people would search less, and browse more, which is good.

And, by the way, weight and height should be fully searchable. For instance: "I'm looking for a girl between 45kg and 55kg... and between 160cm and 170cm." I cannot imagine a dating site without this search. smile

This is 100% available on OSDate and Meetic, so I guess it can be done on VLD.

So to sum up, key features that deserve to be included by default include:

- discriminating by recency
- comfortable "list browsing"
- **full** weight and height discrimination

Don't you think?

Do you know any case of VLD already offering at least one of those features? Could you give me the url, please?

And yes, even without those I'll get VLD anyway.

Re: Search profiles based on "Last Logged in" Date + weight & height

I'm not quite sure what you mean by list browsing, but if you do a search on a vlad powered site, you get a list of members with thumbnails and brief profile info. You can scroll through all or click on each for the details - or do you mean you have a "next" button to view every profile in turn?

Re: Search profiles based on "Last Logged in" Date + weight & height

Yes, a "NEXT" button in the navigation bar to view the first profile, then the second, then the third and oops, i want to see the second profile again, so I click "PREVIOUS" to go back.

Doing the search each time is boring. And opening each profile (from the list of results) in a new window is also quite annoying.

Browsing profiles is cooler when you just hit profile after profile (and only those who match your criteria).
It feels like you review "candidates"...

A cool additional PERMANENT option would be to tick a box in order to display only females (for instance) once the user is logged in. Some of us have dating sites with both women and men as Members. Some hetero men may not care for other men (not even to make friends). They'd rather only see women.

We could go further and addan option to only display blond women, for instance (for a guy with a blondie fetish...)
