Lot of members ask to be informed by email when a member read the message they sent to him, because they don't access the site each day.
However, they frequently access their email address or download their emails by a client like Outlook, Outlook Express, etc...
Informing them by email that the recipient has read the private message they sent him on the site surely increases members accesses, as it already happens with the existing automatic email "YOU RECEIVED A NEW PRIVATE MESSAGE".

So, this is a feature that (1) members appreciate and (2) could make site more visited.

Alternatively, in the sent message area a small note saying "Message read on (whatever) date". IMO emails aren't necessary for this.

Your idea is good. Anyway you forgot to consider that I said that sending automatic emails increases visits and there are a lot of request in this forum about features to make our sites more alive...

Moreover, it's not necessary to inform "logged user" with a message, just because vldpersonals already shows new messages count on sidebar.tpl. Instead, it's very useful to inform user by email when they "forget" to visit the site while they are on internet. 

I think this feature could be good and appreciated, considered that lot of my members ask for them.

It existed into another script I leaved and it made members visited the site more frequently. Believe me.
