smaller country have IP per region which means dozens of towns  and pretty big piece of land. Only bigger towns has their own IP range

so.. any of automatic detection does not work for all

It's just the modification I am using. Anyway, lot of users bypass it and manually put wrong data, so they are excluded from searches by Region or City...

Isn't it feasible to include every city worldwide? A buggy script I used before to move to vldpersonals had this feature and it worked fine...
Database could be updated/managed loading data from a Microsoft Excel data file. I am not saying that vldpersonals has to provide the locality database, with worldwide cities. I am asking the system helps webmasters to "easily" manage the locality database the way they need.

Don't you want your site to seem professional?

Do you think the majority of vldpersonals users has the world as their market? Think to European sites, USA sites, Asian sites, African sites, single Country sites... They are the majority!

I am not talking about locality management by IP. That's a big step up.

I am just asking for a good management of locality database and user searches performing, otherwise profiles searching works bad, your site seems unprofessional, visitors don't register and memebers unsubscribe.

Try to visit the link you wrote and fit locality textfields without using dropdown lists. You will se you can register with wrong data.

It's the modification that has been installed on my site, but:
1) doesn't allow webmasters to manage and update locality database
2) you have to reinstall the modification every time you update vldpersonals and have to synchronize data again
3) that mod allows users to put data manually anyway; it should have to be ajaxed and each locality field has to be shown only after the previous one has been setted; moreover, the system has to check if all locality fields have been selected before data are saved.

To finish, a system like that (but improved) should have to be included as default.
It's a feature that today is necessary and used in all professional sites.

I am happy and greatly satisfied in using vldpersonals too. Moreover, I would like to use it forever if it will be improved day by day to look to the future. I don't know how to explain this in English.
Sometimes I look at other scripts and sites and "just suggest" to add into vldpersonals the things I think are useful, user friendly and today needed.
Just this.

Could you tell me if you consider important to avoid users fill their profiles with uncorrect data? (e.g. Newyork, new_york, nework, nuyork, New Yor, ew york, new yorkk, etc. etc. etc. etc.).
I am not talking about spammers and scamers that insert wrong data to seem they came from another place...
It's not a problem for you all those members will be excluded in results after a search to find some friends or a match in "New York"?

Do you know how many people insert wrong data in your site? (and it's like they are invisible...)

Do you feel how much are important for our members the search features in our dating site?
In our sites people meet, but first of all they SEARCH and we have to help them to FIND and to BE FOUND.
Moreover, each member that doesn't appear in search results is a "non member".

About professionality, do you know some scripts and sites use really advanced worldwide locality data filling? Some of them use Google APIs. Other ones use huge (and expensive) database for localities that include each Country zip/postal code and locality IPs.

Well I am not asking for those advanced and futuristic things, but I hope at least in up-to-date things

What I asked for in my first topic is something that can be easily added and I think it is the minimum needed to make our sites more professional.

Given that I already do love vldpersonals, may I dream it will be better day by day?
