Topic: Hiding Message Text

Can anyone help with the coding in order to make it so that non-paying members can retrieve a message from their inbox but will only see the sender's photo and not be able to read the message until they upgrade. Original message text should be replaced with the following: "Please upgrade to read messages"

Thanks

Edit no acces in language file and add a description with the text you like,

or

Redirect automatically by javascript the user to the upgrade page.

Re: Hiding Message Text

i will clarify....members will not upgrade if they do not know who sent them the message. If they see the member thumbnail but not the message text they would be more apt to subscribe because they have more interest. So...what i would like to do is show the thumbnail of the sender but hide the message text and substitute it with an upgrade message.

Re: Hiding Message Text

Just for better understanding ... is that really a trick to get paid members? I always used to never visit such sites again, but after more and more sites are doing it that way it must be succesful?

Is there some statistics about how many people really upgrades when they not have the basic functions read / write messages?

Re: Hiding Message Text

It's not a trick. Many people do not want to pay upfront for a membership they can't rationalize unless the expense looks as though it will yield a potential result. Our sites remain free until the member sees someone that they seriously want to get in touch with. We don't force anyone to pay if they don't want to...but if they decide to play, then they have to pay.

What is wrong with the solution I proposed to you ? Have you tested at least ?
